Public Image Ltd (PiL) was formed in London in 1978 by John Lydon, formerly of the Sex Pistols, along with guitarist Keith Levene, bassist Jah Wobble, and drummer Jim Walker. The band’s debut album, “Public Image: First Issue,” released in December 1978, was a critical and commercial success, marking a significant departure from the punk rock sound of Lydon’s previous band.
